This book is wacktastic. And very entertaining. It's like Neil Gaiman on speed.
Ok, now that I'm finished... Sheee-it. What a crazy book. It started off weird, stayed weird and then, guess what? Weird. But my kind of weird. :)
I truly loved that I had no idea what was going to happen next. Not at any time. A great read for truly, truly, TRULY outside the imagination-box thinkers.

I had so much fun reading this book. It is truly original, and I haven't read something so INTERESTING (in the truest sense of the word) in so long! I can't even go into detail about what I liked most about this reading experience. I thoroughly enjoyed it, I was intellectually engaged, the characters were believeable and yet fantastical at the same time, and the world was mystical and I found myself wanting to believe in it.
Usually when a book begins by just unceremoniously dumping me into the middle of the story, I get a little impatient to understand what is happening and what world I've just found myself in. But not this book. Despite not knowing what the HELL was going on here, I was happy to ride along with Carolyn until it became a bit clearer. I guess I'll just have to chalk it up to plain old good writing by author Scott Hawkins!

Combining fantasy, horror, and humor this novel tells the story of Carolyn, one of twelve librarians who have been raised by a mysterious and powerful being called Father, who has gone missing. Each librarian has a different catalog of knowledge and abilities, such as languages, war, death, animals, and healing. • A bit tedious and long = 3-Stars

Bizarre and Wonderful
I’ve never read anything like this before. It is delightfully unique and twisted and human. We are dropped right into the story so it’s a bit confusing for the first half of the book. It is so funny and random and weird that you have to keep reading to figure out what is going on. I really enjoyed reading something completely new and interesting!
