some of this book was heartfelt and the last 12% was by far the most enjoyable part of this book.

but this book is sexist. for a while i wondered if if was interrogating sexism within japan, and even then i question the appropriacy of a white man writing that story. but no, this book didn’t improve and was just wholly misogynistic til the end. miserable to read mostly.
