Made me think and realise how little I know of pure maths & physics. But it was fun to try and wrap my head around such complicated concepts told in a story like way.

of the 8 stories in this collection, I could only really follow 4 of them, and only truly enjoyed reading 2 (Understand and Story of Your Life). I feel that with a better grasp of the real scientific and philosophical concepts Chiang discusses through his plots, I would be able to draw a deeper meaning from the other stories. hence, this book gets one star for each story I enjoyed (though I really do wish I could rate it higher).

A solid 3.5

I consumed this as an audiobook. While it's not straight philosophy, it definitely makes one think.

A series of unconnected short stories, Ted Chiang uses his stories as a platform for his ideas first, with character development and plot taking a distant second. Initially this disregard threw me off, but some of his ideas are so interesting/provocative/compelling that it actually becomes a forgivable offense.

Listen to/read this if you want something different and feel like thinking.
