I love star motifs, and so I loved the concept of this book - a journey to retrieve a fallen star, which turns out to be a young girl. I enjoyed how whimsical and relaxing this book was, which is fitting for its tone of traditional fairytales/fantasy. I loved how each character was so intricately tied together and seeing it come to fruition throughout the story arc. However, I do wish we were able to see more of a development between Yvaine and Tristran, because the love between a human and a star is one of my favorite story ideas to date. Another story concept I loved was Yvaine, the fallen star. I loved her as a character as she was by far the most interesting to me, and I wish I had gotten to know her more. I would love to read more tales about her.

I also listened to the audiobook narrated by the author as a companion to reading it physically and Neil Gaiman is such a talented reader. He truly brings the story to life by giving it another layer of depth.

I can't wait to watch the movie after this, and then maybe after that the illustrated story.

I don’t know why it took so long for me to dive into the world of Neil Gaiman but what a wonderful way to start.

Stardust is a lighthearted fantasy with good wit, humour and a satisfying ending.

Although the language is old and not particularly politically correct, you can understand that Gaiman was not writing in a malicious offensive manner.

I may just have to watch the movie and see how it compares!

This was a fun book to read, and really easy to digest. It was always nice to tuck into bed and read a section or two before going to sleep. I came into this having watched the movie (which is fantastic) and was surprised to see how it was adapted from the original source material. Both are great, and I ended up crying at the end of this book which I did not do while watching the movie. It's sweet and tender, and it's so fun to imagine a world in which anything is possible. I do particularly enjoy a specific scene towards the end which I will refrain from speaking about here, but in a way it was so much better that how any other author might have it play out. I'm not a huge fan of romance, so I think that's why I'm not giving it a higher rating, and it's not extremely action packed, but I enjoyed it and it was worth all my time I gave it. It's a book. It's a story. There's a magical world and a perilous adventure. It's not unique or special but it's good and that's what matters.
