If you are looking for a classic fairy tale (but also very original) that’s also funny and has great twists then this is the book for you.

Its a quick 235 page story that doesn’t take a lot to understand the world and has the classic plot of boy loves girl so he will do something ridiculous to win her love while also learning a few lessons along the way. Oh, and don’t forget the happily ever after ending. It was cute, corny, and  just the right amount of drama that you expect from a silly little fairy tale book. Next time I read this will be as an audiobook, where I found out that Neil Gaiman himself is the narrator. So I will literally be hearing this book in Gaiman’s own words, which I’m very excited about.

Adventure, Love, and sex are packed into just a couple hundred pages! Who said a little cheese was bad for the meal? A fun and a little cheesy fairy tale that scratches an itch I didn't really know that I had.

Major Studio Ghibli/Howls Moving Castle vibes. Such an amazing and whimsical story and the prose is just delightful. An absolute favorite

Having watched the movie Stardust, I came into this knowing the twists and turns that would unfold and regardless I loved it. However, I did spend the firat half of the book misreading Tristran's name as Tristan.

Great book, great short-storytelling: the worldbuilding didn't need to be extensive and the characters were well-developed in spite of their short descriptions. The chapters were a bit too long in places, but other than that it was a really nice light read albeit dark at times. Would highly recommend.

An odd little writing style for this one, but I’m sure it served as a fun thought experiment in its process. A lovely full-circle fairy tale for adults.
