Perhaps too much time passed between when I finished the first book and when I picked up the sequel. However, I did not enjoy The Rot nearly as much. The climax and “final” battle was lackluster (although I am anticipating, perhaps, a grand finale in the third installment), and my main upset was Rime’s arc.

How is he expected to retain power over Mannfalla, when he acts half mad throughout the whole book? He is far too aggressive and impulsive, and all his people will see is a madman who chopped off his tail just to…rescue Hirka? In the end, he never even does that - he drops in to help out and returns back to Ym without her.

The first book was EPIC. I fell in LOVE with Hirka and Rime from the beginning to the end "Odin's Child". But for whatever reason I couldn't get invested in this book (probably why it took me so long to read). The storyline wasn't bad, it just wasn't terribly interesting. I didn't love the blending of Norse Mythology and London, England all in one book (I'd have preferred to have kept them separate).

Also, what happened to Stefan? He disappeared into thin air, never to be seen again. Like why? :((

Language: medium/high (considerably more than the first book)
Romance: some kissing, hand holding, flirting, prostitute side character
Violence: war, fighting, car chase
