I liked everything about this book. It was funny, thoughtful, the character development and relationship development was great. I could have read more. I was a bit sad when it ended but I loved it.

A feel good book. This is my first time reading a book by this author. I'm glad I stumbled upon this author and book. Some of the descriptions were so well written that I was right there with the main character, Juanita. This is the story of Juanita, a forty something African American woman who gets fed up with her life, especially her grown, lazy kids and decides to make some life changes.

A breath of fresh air

I loved this one. It was like a breath of fresh air and a coming of age novel for a middle aged woman seeking anew, but still close enough to still love unconditionally. I didn’t want this to end!

I LOVED THIS BOOK! I saw the movie on Netflix first, and reading Juanita on the page is even better. Juanita’s inner world was so beautiful- it reminded me of Janie from Their Eyes Were Watching God, watching a Black woman with a rich inner life want more and strive to connect with people with this vulnerability. And the relationship between her and Jess was so sweet! The moments when they were both really vulnerable were so sweet, and I found myself so tickled by Jess and his acts of affection and love. I found out that there’s a second book and I am so excited to read it!
