While Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is still my favorite, this numerical climb up an apple tree is almost just as good! Numbers from 1-100 make an appearance (counting by 10s after the number 20). Just as with the original, I recommend looking up the song for this one after reading the book - it’s very catchy!

Would be the perfect book to read for Day 100 at school.

For: numbers/counting fans; readers looking for a counting book with rhythm.

Possible red flags: characters in peril.

I thought this was merely going to be a shameless copy of [b:Chicka Chicka Boom Boom|293595|Chicka Chicka Boom Boom|Bill Martin Jr.|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1348384871s/293595.jpg|680304] featuring numbers instead of letters, and it certainly does feature a similar format and rhythm. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how enjoyable and charming it ended up being; what a relief to see zero finally find a spot in the tree!

This counting book teaches kids to count up to 20 and then skip count by tens to 100 as the numbers climb the tree and get chased by bees. Written by Bill Martin Jr. and Michael Sampson. Illustrated by Lois Ehlert.

Sometimes it is best to stop with the original and not try to duplicate it in a different manner. Though it was a fun read, I kept comparing it to Chicka, Chicka Boom Boom and well this is no Chicka, Chicka Boom Boom. It is a fun way to look at numbers but only ok for me.

Nate and I are loving this book. He loves to tell me all about lonely zero. Then we HAVE to count on the back page all the way to 100. BTW it isn't fifty-five, it is five de five. It is also sixty, then sixty-zero, sixty one, etc. He is awesome!

Edward and I read this to grandpa while tucking him in for his nap. For that purpose it was a fine book.

I read this book to the little girl I babysit. I liked it, but it just doesn't have the magic that Chicka Chicka Boom Boom has.

Along with Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, these books are read constantly to our three boys. Fun to read aloud to them and great books for those learning to read.
