Before reading this book, I had heard of the Radium Girls and knew a little bit about their story. But what I liked about this book was that in addition to being informative and creating tension around a dark topic, it was also hopeful and empowering as the Radium Girls fought for justice amid the suffrage movement of the 1920s. On the other hand, the characters were hard to keep track of and some moments in the story could have used a little more clarity.

Overall, a quick and interesting read for anyone interested in history and women’s/workers’ rights.

Inspired by Kate Moore's The Radium Girls, this graphic novel pays tribute to the girls lost due to radium poisoning.

The artwork is fantastic and has a pleasing color palette. The hard edges add a lot of personality to the pages. Though some of the names are the same as well as the backstories, I'd say this is only loosely based on the real women involved. While their illness was certainly a driving force in the story, it was more about social and personal issues at the time. There are a lot of gaps in the narrative, too, and though those gaps are typically filled with artwork, it still felt like something was missing. In any case, I've been looking forward to reading this for a while now and was thrilled when it was finally restocked. It was an enjoyable read as well as an emotional one.

Definitely check out the cover with the lights off.

Overall i enjoyed it, i found it hard to tell some of the character apart because they were drawn so similarly.

Informative and sad. I wish it had been a little longer.

I accidently bought this book but actually ended up liking it. I already was interested in the topic, and this is a fast paced adaption to a very important part of history.
And the girls on the book glow in the dark, i mean how cool is that?

Good retelling! I think it is most powerful when combined with the longer Radium Girls book, but for someone interested in just learning a bit about what happened, this would be a good introduction.

The artwork in this graphic novel was gorgeous. I loved the colored pencil work and the limited color palette. I also appreciated the storytelling and how it was told through the lens of the women's friendship.

I was just really bothered by the incredibly ableist encounter during the beach scene. I am not sure why the author included it, but I found it unnecessary and violent.
