Beautiful book with a lot of great information concerning the Florentine Renaissance. However, the pace is so slow it took me ages to finish this book. Still worth a read.

This book was really interesting; I learned a lot. I wish it had been a straight up history of illuminated manuscripts and the advent of printing instead of trying to do that AND be a biography.
