I have been waiting for Violet and Bren St. James’ book from the very beginning of this series. We’ve been witness to their constant back and forth for two books and a novella and the anticipation was killing me in the best of ways. That wait? Totally worth it!!

I loved the slow burn of this book. Violet and Bren shared a connection that I could FEEL from the very beginning. The tension was high and the wait for it to finally break was sweet, sweet torture. When that burning and yearning finally became too much to ignore, the collision of passions between Violet and Bren was OFF THE CHARTS fantastic!! Everything I had been hoping for and more.

Bren was everything I love about a good Hero. He was just a little bit broken, a whole lot grumpy and gruff, and super sexy in that mysterious way that drives me crazy. I loved his dedication to getting his life together for his kids and how he was trying to do what was best for them despite his intense feelings for Violet, even though I was dying for him to just give in.

Violet was strong and sassy but had a vulnerable side when it comes to opening herself up to anyone, including Bren but especially her sisters. Where she was loud and blunt, Bren was quiet and steady. I adored the way she truly bonded with his kids. Not as a means to be with him but because she genuinely cared about them. She really was his perfect match and together they were combustable but REAL.

My favorite part of this whole series, outside of the romances, is the way that all three sisters slowly opened up to each other and each found their place in the Rebels organization and as a family. The growth they each experienced individually and as they navigated their way through their dad’s final wishes took me on such a great ride. I’m sad to see this series come to and end but excited to see what’s coming next from Kate Meader. She just has such a way with words and character building that always makes me feel like am a part of the story, not just reading it. I’ll be ready to lose myself in whatever world she creates next!!

3.5 stars. While this was lovely and I thought Violet was great for Bren, ultimately something kept me from connecting with her fully and the romance took a bit of a back seat to Bren's road to recovery and redemption (which was a joy to witness). I loved that the sense of family (both blood related and not) was strong throughout. I preferred [b:Undone By You|36100983|Undone By You (Chicago Rebels, #3)|Kate Meader|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1503365907s/36100983.jpg|57685768] but this one had me entertained and it will probably not be my last Meader book.

Discovering Kate Meader and her amazing series that is the Chicago Rebels was one of the best things to happen to me last year reading-wise. I devoured the first four books, more like two books and two novellas, in this series in about a month. Each book got better and better, but they also gave us a delicious taste at the one couple whose story I could not wait to get my hands on: Violet and Bren. The wait for their book, THIS BOOK, was TORTURE but I was so freaking happy when I was finally able to get my hands on it.

Violet Vasquez and Bren St. James have been tip-toeing around one another ever since Violet found out she inherited one-third of the Chicago Rebels after her biological father, Clifford Chase passed away. The teasing and jabs at one another have been the icing on top of each of the previous books. Especially since with each one of those moments, their sexual tension seems to increase ten-fold to the point that you just want them to tear off each other's clothes already. With the hardships both Violet and Bren have gone through in the past, I would say that a few sexy times between the sheets with one another is something they absolutely deserve. I mean, between Violet overcoming her battle with breast cancer and Bren's journey to getting sober and being there for his daughters, I think the universe owes them big time.

I really enjoyed Hooked on You, but I think that because I hyped it up SO MUCH in my head that when I finally read it, the story fell just a little short of my expectations causing me to not love it as much as I thought I would. The main reason for this is that I was expecting there to be more angst and sexual tension between Violet and Bren in the beginning and throughout the book. We definitely got a good amount, but I wanted MORE. After the build-up between these two over the course of this series so far, I was expecting more teasing, more angsty banter, and the sexual tension to reach a point of no return. Maybe I didn't connect with Violet and Bren as much as I thought I would, maybe I'm just being greedy, all I know is that this aspect of the book was just a tad bit underwhelming.

Everything else about this book, on the other hand, was absolutely adorable. Bren being a single dad on top of being this brooding, ice-hockey-playing Scotsman made his character that much more dreamy. Did I mention I have a thing for Scottish men? His daughters were just the cutest things ever. And then of course, you have Violet who is this bad-ass, opinionated, living-her-life-to-the-fullest heroine that just flipped Bren's life upside down the minute he met her. Their love story was the best conclusion to this series that I could have asked for because not only did it allows these two lost souls find one another, but it also allowed Violet to realize that her place in the Chase family was always meant to be. It also made me so happy and giddy to see the HEA's of each of the Chase sisters beyond what happened in each of their books.

If you love sports romances, READ THIS SERIES. That is all I can honestly say. You could start with Hooked on You but you won't get the full reading experience with this amazing cast of characters unless you start at the very beginning. Trust me you won't regret it.

I have been looking forward to Violet's story since her introduction in Irresistible You and honestly it did not disappoint.

As Hooked on You had me hooked from the very start. As it was fun, entertaining, sweet, engaging, sexy and at times a little sad.

Plus, it was full of great characters. Especially the broody, sexy Scot Bren who, after nine months, finally makes a move on Violet. Not to mention his two adorable daughters Franky, who loves slugs and Cat who doesn't! As well as Violet's two sisters and the rest of the Rebels Players including Cade, Remy and Vadim.

And I really enjoyed reading it, and would happily recommend it to others.

I'm sad to see this series end. I blew through this last book in a matter of hours because a) I was so happy to finally read it and b) I could not put it down. Sure, you know how the plot is basically going to go. You know how the story is going to end. (I was watching pre-season hockey for a bit, too, so that helped.) That didn't matter because the characters are well-written and their emotions are compelling. I definitely laughed and cried a little as they worked to find their HEA. The OTP had such baggage, and they had to work to figure how to handle it all. And the addition of his daughters -- such a great storyline. I definitely recommend this series to anyone who likes romance and hockey. Go Rebels! (Really, GO SHARKS, but who cares?)

Hooked on You is the third book (fourth volume) in a series which centers on the fictitious hockey team the Chicago Rebels. Violet and Bren both have issues in their past that they are still coming to terms and dealing with. Violet is a breast cancer survivor who is acclimating to her life as part owner of a hockey team that her estranged father left her. Bren is one of the stars on said hockey team and a recovering alcoholic who is trying to atone for his past with his young children. While they try to fight their mutual attraction, they eventually give in.

For the most part this was an enjoyable read. I thought it a little excessive how many times Fleetwood Mac was mentioned, but that is just a minor squabble.

This can be read as a stand alone as each book focuses on a different couple in the series. This is the first book I read in the series, but I will probably go back and read the others sometime as I enjoyed this one.
