A short sweet gem of a book! A perfect example of Japanese magical realism. This is a book for book lovers, a manifesto on the importance of books and how they should be treated. It's a love letter to books without being too preachy. Rintaro is an endearing character and who doesn't love a talking cat! I thoroughly enjoyed this quick read.

A whisical story of an introverted young man who is whisked on a magical journey by a talking cat. Perfect for lovers of The Little Prince or The Alchemist or those who just love books. ❤️

A book hasn’t made me feel like this in a long time. There was something so very special about it - a kind of warmth and homeliness.
And I cried. (I know, I know it’s getting to be a rather tedious response just bare with me.)
I hadn’t even gotten 15 pages in before I felt my eyes prick. This book, it just evokes that response. This book is for book lovers. That was the reason for my tears, the overwhelming emotion I feel for books. And I know it sounds dramatic but truly there are few things in this world I love more.
I know this review has become more of a love letter to books than a critique on this specific piece of literature, but I think that’s what ‘The Cat Who Saved Books’ is at heart. A love letter to books.
An all time favourite of mine.

So far, my favorite read of this year. Read it at the perfect time. Don't want to say too much, avoiding posting spoilers. Highly recommend.
