I like the story, typical romcom. However I didn't know it was such a religious influenced book. I tried to ignore it a bit but that is why I couldn't really get into it as much as I would have liked.

If that is your thing or if you don't mind it, I think it is a lovely novel

This was fun to read while visiting St Simons Island because it takes place there, but otherwise it was a little cringe & the faith factor was over the top. Cute love story tho & I loved the characters!

I found this one actually quite refreshing. A combination of the movie Princess Diaries with a little Cinderella and your typical happily-ever-after.

It was too hard to get over the attempt at “southern” talk. Full grown women referring to her dad as “daddy” and then it got preachy and too into religion/god etc.

Cheesy, Hallmarky but cute.
Very insta-love but I liked their chemistry up until the very end when
Spoilerthey were trying to drag her to the proposal and the actual proposing part. It took way too long to get her to the spot, and she started crying & praying at the church again and I was just like, "haven't we covered this 15 times by now??" And then when they did finally get her to the oak tree (which I had figured out would happen way back at the very beginning when she was crying all over Nate telling him "I thought he was going to propose here at the tree") and he finally proposes and she suddenly decides to play hard to get? There was all this build-up and chemistry/tension but the lengthy proposal scene sucked it all out till their first kiss finally happening just fell completely flat.

I enjoyed the mythical fairy-tale unrealistic kingdom parts more than anything else. The only two real conflicts were the entail issue and the marriage act but considering there was literally only one way to fix either of those, when they finally happened it wasn't much of a surprise. Though the entail part was kind of, "Seriously? This couldn't have happened before now?"

Regarding the audio book narration, I didn't love the choice to alternate between southern and British accents. The first few chapters made me laugh and cringe until I got used to hearing it.

I really wanted to love this book. it just did not work out for me the way I would have liked

1. godly theme - I have nothing against books with spiritual links that come with them. I just did not like the way the author introduced God and his plans when it came to the whole story. that is why it became so boring at the middle. The whole thing revolved around destiny and planned by God or willed by God because it was ment to be. You practically know what is going to happen when you turn the page. Too much foreshadowing.

2. the movement of time - what I do not understand why the author felt like it was necessary to put a figure on how long something is. like waiting for the bf. or months spent apart. or months without work. the details could have been more subtle and the readers will still understand that time moved

3. Destiny - I usually don't have problems with destiny and such. but gosh I cannot describe it properly how wrong it was for me here.
