It was fine, but I only finished it because it was so short. I wasn't attached to the characters particularly, although I did like Ms Potter, and the story didn't really do it for me.

What Moves the Dead was a perfectly enjoyable novella that I finished in a day. I liked it well enough, and particularly liked the fact that the protagonist was nonbinary, but I was never really wowed by the story at any point. I accurately guessed what was likely happening from the first few chapters and so the horror never felt truly creepy to me despite some nice turns of phrase and scary imagery. There's a longer version of this story that could've made a bigger impact on me had we seen more of the characters, but this was not that story. I greatly liked the nonbinary representation and the time we spent with the cast, but ultimately, it was nothing memorable as a piece of horror.
