I picked up a copy of Something Wild & Wonderful at the Hachette table at a library conference. I'd read a few reviews of it in librarian trade journals, and thought it would be an interesting read. It was. It was a very good trail log, making me wonder how many of the situations within the story happened to the author.

This whole book was good but the third act was especially moving. Beautiful, atmospheric, sweet and deeply emotional. Anita Kelly is an instant-buy author for me for a reason.

This book was so full of deeply emotional moments. Alexei's pain at being disowned, Ben's feelings of inadequacy, and their combined struggles to do what felt right for them. The need to be alone versus the pull to be together. It was fun seeing London and Dahlia again, and all of the hiking friends they made along the way gave so much depth to the story. The letters in end about broke my heart, but the actual ending was so sweet and perfect.

Loved this queer romance so much.  If you dream about long-distance hiking and want some queer rep on the trails, this is for you. If you want stories about found family, this is for you. If you love love and want to root for the two most adorable men on the planet, this is for you. I also loved that it was about 30-somethings instead of 20-somethings, as we all can find our way at any age. It warmed my heart, and I hope you read it.

Such a soft, quietly romantic book. Alexei and Ben were so lovely together with almost a hurt/comfort sort of vibe. The balance of lightheartedness, emotional moments, and interesting nature facts was spot on. Very much a no-plot-just-vibes type of romance novel.

I loved that Alexei remained estranged from his parents by the end of the book. So many times in romance I feel like authors force a familial reconciliation where it isn't warranted or deserved, and I'm glad that didn't happen here.

My only negative point is that I was not a fan of the third-act breakup here nor the length of it, but that's really the story of my life when reading romance. It was relatively understandable, as far as third-act breakups go. Their letters and reunion were just gorgeous and almost worth the angst.
