Por fin pude terminar este libro. Al principio se me hizo bastante interesante, pero un poco antes de la mitad perdí gran parte de mi interés en la historia.

So far, this book is probably the biggest disappointment of the year. It got glowing reviews in the newspaper and because it deal with theatre, I was very excited when I found it at the library. 100 pages in and I was wondering if anything is ever going to happen at all. A full book later I've come to the conclusion that the answer is no. Sure, there are events and things happening, but no one big turning point that would stand out from the rest. If the goal was to describe how mundane everyday life can be, then this book may have achieved something. The characters felt clichéd and the only one I cared about was Leigh, who, in my opinion, did not get enough story time or depth. Luke seemed like some sort of wonder child, writing successful plays everyone loves, while Nina was the talented and oppressed trophy wife who we probably we supposed to root for, but whom I only found annoying. Maybe I missed something while reading this, but I truly cannot understand why the critics seem to love this so much. Yes, the theatre descriptions were lovely, and possibly the best part of the whole book, but that's about it. Unfortunately.

A bit patchy but loved Luke's character and the start-up theatre company bits. A bit light on plot but nicely written.

From BBC Radio 4 - Book at Bedtime:
Hayley Atwell reads Sadie Jones's acclaimed novel set in 1970s theatreland.

First 2/3rds of this book are fine. Last 3rd is like the author got bored and decided to wrap it up as quickly as possible.
