the upside to insomnia is catching up on my reading ;)
The book was interesting, did not require a lot of thinking, and held my attention.

I loved it!!! You can tell that she isn't a professional author, but I loved the stories and couldn't wait to see what happened. I found myself making time to read throughout the day, so to me that is the sign of a good story. I'm looking forward to her next. :)
So sweet. A funny and touching story about falling in love and waking up to realities of partnership and country life! I love Ree Drummond!
I really liked it. I think it's sort of hard to mess up writing a book about something that happened to YOU in your own life. It was entertaining and I came away happy that the authors life turned out the way it did for her and her family
*Mild spoiler
I became interested in the Pioneer Woman after my grandmother talked about this book and fed us (the visiting family) a couple of recipes courtesy Ree Drummond's cookbook. You should know, I love to cook. I love food and the culture around it, the smells and of course the tastes. I even like the dishes.. Sometimes. Ree Drummond has a kick ass website about food, photography, life in the country. However this story isn't really about food but about the romance that burns between one city girl and one cowboy. Make that Marlboro Man. I am really feeling the country vibe lately and that brought me to my local library. There on I finished this book in two days. It's a fun read and you almost wish she would have written an adult lit revolving around cowboys and such.. Maybe that's just me. I was touched by the end chapters as Ree talks about her pregnancy and how she went from a not-sure-I-want-kids to a full grown woman who has matured through love and hardships.
You'll like this book if you're optimistic, enjoy the country, find cowboys ridiculously alluring, or want a story that makes you feel a little more reassured that there really is a special person out there for you.
In a word; uplifting.

I read this book to decide whether or not I could be a fan of Ree.
I listened to the audio book and finished within two days. So the story was interesting and I wanted to keep listening, however the audio book was pretty mono-tone in places where there was obviously more emotion going on.
There were some repetitive points: her descriptions of kissing MM, her parents' divorce, and her outfit choices.
If it were not for her rising fame, I don't think I would have kept my interest in this story.

It was cute, nothing earth shattering, or fascinating. Nice to now know the cute love story behind the blogger.
Absolutely delightful. Blog readers will recognize parts 1 and 2 from when she told this story there, and Part 3 adds the reality and richness you get from following her daily life. A beautiful story that reminds me real love stories still happen :-)
Over the years, this has become a comfort read for me. I first read the paper back book in 2019 but I ended up buying a copy of this on Audible and I now listen to the Audible edition every couple of months when I need a little pick me up. Her sequel book is also great and another comfort read. Ree’s narration is perfect and makes her story really come to life.
Ree has nice shoes! Ree meets a cowboy in a bar! Ree's nice shoes are impractical for ranch life, but their burning passion makes it ok. Cows poop on her! They get married! They get food poisoning! They have a baby!
