I don't know, it seems like the Mrs. Pollifax books are losing their edge a bit. I so thoroughly enjoyed the first 3 or 4, but these last couple, not so much. They seem to be not so imaginative and laugh-out-loud as they were. They're still fairly good as adventure books, and fun, light reads. I am attached enough to the series to continue on and hope that they pick up again!
This one did have a couple of interesting "ah-ha" moments, like the true identity of the holy man and the role of the CIA guy that everybody thinks has gone rogue, but the plot and resolution overall felt sub-par.

I really enjoyed this book! Emily and Cyrus are about to leave for their vacation in Thailand when Bishop shows up at their house to ask them to help with an easy assignment that just happens also to be in Thailand and is definitely not at all dangerous. Mrs P is hesitant since her last assignment turned traumatic and she's just getting over her PTSD from it but Cyrus convinces her to get back on the horse. I think we all know by now that there is never going to be an assignment that doesn't take a turn for the scary for Mrs P but that's what makes this series so good. There were several people that were not what they seemed and Mrs Pollifax makes new friends and a few enemies along the way to an excellent end.

The plot of the last book really took its toll on Emily and I didn’t feel as if she was her usual self. It’s understandable, however Emily’s whining was starting to be irritating. Thank the Forest Spirits for Banchu (yeah I butchered his name, sorry).

Barbra Rosenblat continues to do a sensational job narrating and is, tbh, one of the reasons I continue to listen to Mrs. P’s stories.

Mrs. Pollifax is off on another adventure - this time a planned vacation to Thailand with her new husband Cyrus - that's until she's asked to simply pick up a package. But, nothing ends up being all that simple, as Cyrus is spirited away in a blue van to who knows where!

I'll admit - I'm hooked on Emily Pollifax's aventures.
