This was even better than the first! Throughout this entire book I was always pro Grim. I nearly leaped out of my seat when Grim said Isla was his wife. I’m so excited for the next book!
The ending gets me EVERY TIME with these books. DANG! I need book three STAT!
3.5
I liked the idea of the memories and slowing uncovering the truth but the execution and everything else about the plot was not it like thinking about it more and more the world just does not make sense. It felt like the author was pulling "lore" out of her ass just to make things work for the sake of the storyline. Also I know Oro is the "Tamlin" of this story but he's genuinely the better guy like Grim is a douche and boring asf

Dude oh my god.
This actually might have been a 5/5, but idk something is stopping me from rating it that. But wow, I LOVED how we slowly see her turn against Oro and embrace nightshade. SO GOOD. I know i know, Oro is the better choice, but there is ZERO tension between them. I only ever felt pity for Isla when she was with Oro, it was like she was undermined by him constantly. This is the first time in a while that I’m gawking at the tension between a couple, but Isla and Grim are just, wow. It’s so bold, yet still kept under wraps, how is that even possible??? And the ENDING??? Oh my god. I was floored. Actually excited for the third book now. SOOOO much better than book #1

This book has made my decision between Oro and Grim even harder. I enjoyed the story telling and the endless troublesome situations Isla is constantly finding herself in. She kind of annoyed me in the first book but I like how we learn more about her past and the connections with Grim. This story is very captivating to me and I can’t wait for Skyshade.
Idk why I punished myself by reading the second book. It’s been a few days since I’ve finished, and I’ve already forgotten everything that happened in this series

Wow! The ending!!!
This book picked up right where the first one left off. The middle of the book got a little redundant but momentum was carried with the continuation of new memories with her and Grim. There were a lot of twists and turns and ups and downs, but I never would have guessed what happened in the end. The prophecy coming true “you will kill one of them” not physically but emotionally. It was good! Starting the third book now!
