Loved this. Felt very real to my experiences as a depressed person and a therapist to chronically suicidal individuals

DNF at 15%. Reading about someone else’s self-destructive behavior was too hard for me. The first 50ish pages of this book, the author goes into very detailed explanations of how badly she wanted to and ways she tried to kill herself.

I listened to the audiobook version. It was divided into a few different segments. One part was this woman's story of her psych hospital stay. It was realistic (as this is a true story), however, she had a much better experience than anyone I have ever known in a psych hospital. Other sections were dedicated to medications and treatment. There was also a section about research and statistics.
Although I probably could have listened to an entire book just about her psych hospital stay, it was kind of nice to hear about the rest of the things. It added a sense of belonging when the rest of the world is pretty taboo on the matter.
