this book might be the most i have had to look up vocabulary used by the author/protagonist in recent memory. i’m hoping some of the exquisite words i defined throughout the story stick in my personal lexicon. i understand why reviews of this book describe it as “funny,” and i did chuckle a handful of times, but for me, eleanor’s loneliness made these moments more sad than anything. the word “hilarious” printed on the cover doesn’t sit well with me. overall, i am pleased with this one. and grateful to have read it at this lonely yet transformative time in my life.
