A cute cozy romcom set in a town of monsters. The autumn and halloween vibes are chefs kiss
The two narrators had very different levels of audio quality, which was a little jarring.

why did i skip this book last halloween and then randomly decide to read it in march? no idea lol. but honestly? vibes were immaculate. like sipping a locally brewed pumpkin chai from a mismatched thrifted mug while curled up in a chunky knit blanket—warm, cozy, and just the right amount of chaotic. and somehow, i ended up loving it even more than i expected.
pumpkin spice & poltergeist is exactly what the title promises—a light, fizzy, supernatural sapphic rom-com with all the cozy, small-town autumn aesthetics your heart could want. jordyn, an apothecary witch with a tendency to get witchy-wasted and make reckless magical decisions (such as, oh, summoning her ex-girlfriend’s ghost), has to deal with said snarky ex haunting her until she moves on. enter harlow, the new girl in town who just wants a job at her sister’s cafe but instead finds herself dodging vampires, dealing with graveyard-adjacent workplace disasters, and falling for a literal witch. the banter? on point. the chemistry? straight-up cinnamon sugar sweetness.
beyond the spellcasting and flirting, the book has that sneaky emotional depth that hits you when you least expect it. at its heart, this is a story about moving forward, about untangling yourself from the past (even when it refuses to stop haunting you, literally). jordyn’s ex isn’t just a hilarious ghostly inconvenience—she’s a reminder of how hard it can be to let go, even when we know we should. and wow, does that feel a little too real.
also, maple hollow? obsessed. imagine if stars hollow and halloweentown had a baby raised exclusively on cottagecore pinterest boards and vintage spooky postcards. the world-building is so effortlessly charming that i fully believe this town exists somewhere, probably with a waitlist for new residents.
and the villain? a jealous, unhinged lady swamp monster?? i was feasting. she was feral, she was petty, she was absolutely off the rails over a woman who didn’t want her—and you know what? that’s the kind of drama i live for in a campy paranormal rom-com!
if the next book is about ramona and iris, i am sat, i am seated, i am so fucking ready! but until then, if you’re craving something cozy, witchy, and delightfully queer, pumpkin spice & poltergeist is an absolute must-read—regardless of the season.

So cute and festive for the spooky month really felt like a Halloween town atmosphere, which was executed perfectly. I could imagine it all with the side character; it was amazing. I liked the mystery aspect; it had very cozy mystery vibes—nothing too crazy. I enjoyed that this premise is unique, and the love interests are very cute. I would have liked them to be fleshed out a bit more, but it’s a fun short read that will definitely put you in the falltime spirit.
