this one is my least favourite of the series. it took me a while to get into reed pov but it did make him more likable in the long run.

I just grew up. The first time I read it I was like 16. Now I’m 19 and it’s just cringe. Ella is incredibly annoying

Where do I start.
This book follows almost directly after the events of PP, except that the last scenes are replayed from another character's POV, who becomes our second narrator, Reed.
Reed's POV was, an addition. His POV was as good as Ella's, which to me, is pretty poor, but not more-so than Ella's. Mostly felt like it was introduced to undo the idea implanted in book one that Which I already knew? It's just kind of obvious and felt like the world's laziest "cliffhanger".
In general, that's how this book felt. I know what the authors were going for, but I am displeased with the excecution. I wasn't as angry finishing this as I was with book one, but I was kinda laughing at the drama because it felt TOO soap opera, too big to care about without having established Ella and Reed as strong enough characters or strong enough as a couple.
The characters are still one dimensional and boring. The plot...oh the plot. It makes no sense. The conflict between Ella and Reed is so non-important and illogical, that Ella litterally just drops it when the authors felt like it since it was NEVER actually an issue. I just never understood why characters did what they did because I could see a clear logical fault, and morover, so could the characters. However they wouldn't act on this until it suited the plot. Secrets were kept until the authors could sweep them in.
Moreover the text itself is pretty heavy on gendered insults. In the first ten pages of the book Reed says thirteen, individual, gendered insults related to Brooke.
Honestly, the book is so typical in this way, even down to having One Good Woman Ella, be a virgin, and surrounding her with Evil Women, all of whom are not only sexually active, but use that sex to ensnare or violate men. It not only makes me loathe the book, it also makes it weaker. Villans have no nuance, they're all overblown caricatures.
It DID however, start to become tolerable towards the end. My days of not taking this series seriously, have come to a middle.

Excellent sequel. There still a ton of problematic things in this book, but overall it was enjoyable, scandalous ride.
No inicio o livro foi meio parado, a mesma enrolação de sempre entre a Ella e o Reed, mas depois ficou legalzinho!
Dnf at 67%. I just don’t care about any of the characters at this point. Deal with your issues, everyone.
