First half was interesting, second half boring and the theme fell apart. Tone was condescending and very self-centering. I have read other books by the author that I remember liking much better.

An entertaining look on various nature related subjects that had hit or miss humor and not much cohesively tying it all together.

This was so fascinating. There were so many things I had zero clue about so I was constantly taking notes (also to help me retain information for my book club). While reading, it was fun to share things I was learning with my friends and husband along the way.

Some of my favorite facts were learning about wildlife in New Zealand, the proper responses during a bear encounter, how evolution isn’t advancing at the rate of technology, how to preserve sunflowers, and how problematic leopards are in parts of the world.

There were a few moments while reading were I was getting bored with such a dominant focus on birds. Maybe if more reptile or amphibian content were subbed in, it would've worked a little better for me. Though, I wonder whether the pandemic halted some research and that limited the topic options.
