Juliet made me feel seen as a baby gay. I always knew I was attracted to women and men, but it wasn’t until my fiancé and I got together that I was confident even to live and just be myself. I find myself still being concerned that I don’t say the right things or know everything I should as a black queer woman. I’m still learning and loving on myself as I go. Juliet had to go through some things to really find her understanding and find people to really love on her for who she is, and learned some cool historical facts along the way.

OH. MY. GOD. I TOTALLY LOVE THIS BOOK!!! I can relate to this book. It's about this Hispanic woman (19) named Juliet who leaves her home to go to an internship, coming out to her family right before leaving. She stays with this queer woman who is running the internship. Juliet goes through a lot during this time, but she ends up being a confident proud woman. SPOILERS!!!
I don't like how Juliet falls in love with this woman named Kira and at this point she knows Kira likes her back but Juliet kisses this woman she doesn't even know. (Literally, she knows nothing about this woman. All she did was cut Juliet's hair and they both thought the other was cute or what ever.) Also, Juliet feels bad after Harlow publicly does something practically racist and offensive so Kira brings her to her house. After talking and a couple of kisses, Kira gets a shower ready for Juliet. They end up having sex in the shower. Listen, they don't know each other that much and they haven't known each other for super long so I thought that was weird.)

i loved the art work and the color palettes used in this story, it was absolutely stunning! i think if i hadn’t known this was adapted from a full length novel before diving in, i would’ve rated it higher. i couldn’t stop thinking about how rushed everything felt and overall the pacing was a bit odd. i think it definitely could’ve been fleshed out some more. however, i still enjoyed the story and seeing Juliet embrace herself and her sexuality was both empowering and heartwarming.

Yay! I loved this graphic novel ♥️ Reminded me of my own journey through feminism, many familiar things scenes, theories and moments during my foray into feminism, academic and beyond. I really appreciated how Juliet is so honest with her feelings and doesn’t try to hide when she’s sad or passionate. I feel like I needed to see that represented right now. Juliet has the courage I wish I had when I was her age and her growth journey was everything. Also, the art and colour palette were just stunning 🤩

This was a great read detailing Juliet’s journey to delving further into her queerness, encountering white feminism and inauthentic allyship, exploring life in a new city, and learning more about herself and what she wants out of a relationship.

The illustrations were also absolutely stunning.

The only thing I wish we got was more development of side characters but otherwise I enjoyed this read and would recommend it.

One thing about me? I will always enjoy the story of a queer person coming into their own and living their best life. The art in this graphic novel adaptation was also lovely!
