Overall, I thought this was a super quick but enjoyable read. The pacing of the story felt a little odd and the narrative jumped from scene to scene a little sporadically for my taste, but all in all, I felt like this was a good, empowering story with lovely art.

Yay! I loved this graphic novel ♥️ Reminded me of my own journey through feminism, many familiar things scenes, theories and moments during my foray into feminism, academic and beyond. I really appreciated how Juliet is so honest with her feelings and doesn’t try to hide when she’s sad or passionate. I feel like I needed to see that represented right now. Juliet has the courage I wish I had when I was her age and her growth journey was everything. Also, the art and colour palette were just stunning 🤩
Graphic: Homophobia, Racism, Toxic relationship, Toxic friendship, and Sexual harassment
Moderate: Sexual content
Minor: Chronic illness

I am so thankful Keisha put me onto this book. I absolutely adore this story.
Juliet takes a break is truly a refreshing take on what queer feminism looks like from a black/brown perspective.
I appreciate that Juliet felt empowered and freer because of Harlowe, a white feminist. She learns that there is a difference and unfortunately learns first hand what the "white savior" complex looks like.
I appreciated so much the conversations being had, like what it means to have a Latiné family who may never understand your queerness, one who tells you it's just a phase. I know this isn't just relegated to Latiné families but I loved that we get to see this perspective. Bring Puerto Rican myself it's nice to be able to relate on more than just one level.
Overall I feel like this is an excellent book that everyone should read. I think many would gain a lot from Juliet's experiences and ultimately may even start their own journey.

It was great, but I think the novel will be even better.
If I hadn't known this was a novel first I probably would have rated it higher... but I couldn't help thinking the scenes would have been better with more detail
