I love the concept and the artwork is absolutely beautiful. I do wish that it had some sort of rhyming structure like Goodnight Moon because its absence made it feel awkward while I was reading each page. Overall, it's a cute book that fans of Anne of Green Gables will enjoy.

'Goodnight, Anne' written by Kallie George with illustrations by Genevieve Godbout is a bedtime storybook based on the book Anne of Green Gables. Younger readers may not be familiar with that book, but it still works as a gentle goodnight.

It's bedtime at Green Gables and Marilla is trying to get Anne Shirley to bed, but first Anne must say goodnight to the people and places she knows. So there are goodnights to Matthew and Diana. The snow queen and the Lake of Shining Waters are the fanciful things Anne Shirley likes. Marilla finally gets her to settle down, but not without a final goodnight from Anne.

The text is based on the first book, and readers familiar with the book will find a smile as they remember Matthew's kindness or Rachel Lynde's nosiness. The reason I chose to review this were the illustrations by Genevieve Godbout, who has become a favorite illustrator of mine over a short period of time. The illustrations are gentle and beautiful. I love the theme of butterflies that runs through the book, and I think Anne's spirit animal is a butterfly that flies erratically around.

I received a review copy of this ebook from Tundra Books, Penguin Random House Canada, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

This was a really cute book but transferring it to an ebook was horrible. It was not super hard to read in ebook form but it was just confusing and not put out well. I did enjoy the book though. I thought it was a cute spin of Anne of Green Gables. The illustrations were extremely beautiful as well! Seems like this would be a great book to read to your kids at night before bed.

I have a particular fondness for Anne of Green Gables; that series is dear to me and I anticipate when I will introduce those books to my daughters. Goodnight, Anne, a short bedtime story with pleasing illustrations, is the sort of book I could read with them now to whet their interest.

The illustrations are delightful, and the story has Anne preparing for bed by naming various friends and wishing them well...mostly (Gilbert is mentioned unfavorably, as we see the illustration of him tugging Anne's braids).

Her greetings are not limited to humans; after all, her plant and tree have also captured her heart and imagination. I see the attraction of this book being for parents who are fans of the Anne of Green Gables series; they can begin reading this when their children are young, and then graduate to the new early-reader series or the familiar classics as time and ability allow. Children won't know the full back story of Anne's relationships with the various characters from this book, but they can be attracted by Anne's imagination and the darling illustrations.

For: Anne of Green Gables fans; readers wanting a book with whimsy.

Possible red flags: a little difficult to connect with if one does not already love Anne and know her story--lack of context.

Is there a young person in your life too little to read Anne of Green Gables? Solution is Goodnight, Anne. It is like Goodnight Moon but Green Gables style. Genevieve Godbout is amazing with illustrations so this is just a must have/read picture book!
