loved this so book, i was in my feels

ok so this book wasn’t completely awful, there were some cute and enjoyable moments between the two protagonists at times but thats it. The MMC was unlikeable for most of the book and i have a feeling his backstory is poorly written, along with the second half of this book, which seemed excessively rushed. The FMC lacked real purpose and was such an inconsistent character that i was quite annoyed with her. She falls under the spectrum of female characters that the author wants to write as strong and independent (as the character said herself) but she comes off as the exact opposite.
Lastly, i usually don’t mind age gaps books, but the fact that she was constantly referred to as a child or teenager (she’s 19) was quite hateful, also considering that the MMC for most of the book looks at her as an object to fck.

There is so much wrong with this book, I don’t even know where to start. The plot was not plausible unless the year was 1850, and the dialogue was so cheesy that I almost closed the book for good before finishing. I wasn’t sure what Wolfe’s master plan was in marrying Francesca. I’m still wondering why he was making out with her when he hated her so much. Nothing was consistent, including the spelling of their child’s name. It was spelled “Emmeline” and “Emmaline” on different pages. The editing was definitely wanting on a few occasions. And the ending was so eye rolling. Really? He became president of the United freaking States? Really? I just can’t. Never again.
