This was a very fun read aloud book. I didn't know what to expect, but my preschoolers LOVED it.

It would have gotten another star if it didn't have that last page. It could have stopped with the squirrel eating all the acorns, totally content.

I read this book for the kiddos during story time at work & they all just loved it.
It's perfect for them as you can certainly enhance the voice of the squirrel with every disappointing (yet highly funny) "Aw, nuts!". It's also very engaging and introduces different objects to allow for conversation and interaction with children (the squirrel hops into a bike at one point... and the story pauses just slightly & it was very easy to slip in with "Who has a bike!?").

Lots of fun! Aimed at junior primary, but my 5/6s enjoyed it too.
Great text for predicting, or unpacking narrative structure with pebble-rock-boulder style rising action.
Could also be used for simple inferring, or text-to-text connection with (?)Scritch shorts from Ice Age.

Young kids are really going to like the antics of squirrel in his quest to have the perfect acorn!

Cute story for a read aloud. Elliott loved repeating the "AW, Nuts!!" parts. Thank you Harper for the review copy!

Tee hee :) It’s a cute one. It reminds me of Fortunately, the Milk, but for much younger kids.
