- just kinda … boring. Like it has such an interesting premise but nothing that inspired actually happens 
-  characters were flat, MC had no agency just spent the entire book going “what’s going on?!” And someone else being like “I’ll tell you later”
- disappointing honestly… if you want good villain media just watch Megamind lol

Whee, that was fun! The opening is a bit slow, but absolutely necessary, because EVERYTHING comes back later. Agatha Christie couldn't have written a more tangly ending, and it certainly wouldn't have been amusing.

Most of all, the stock character, the older adult who isn't making it in the world, turns out to be quite clever. Not the uual guy who's just there so stuff can happen to him.

I want to know about the real-life guy that Scalzi based Dobrev on.
