This is the second book I read from this author and well, I think she's slowly becoming one of my favorite paranormal authors. I love her writing, the plots are awesome with lots of twists and the world(s) she creates is/are just mind blowing!

Next to Charming the Beast, I also read and reviewed Marked by the Vampire by Cynthia Eden and I gotta admit I liked that one better. Probably because I preferred Shane's behavior. I mean, I liked Connor too. Who wouldn't? Dark, tall and sexy alpha werewolf. Yup, I'd sign up for that, but... I don't mind when characters swear, because I do a fair share of swearing too, but when I grow tired of it whilst reading, it's too much. And I grew tired of it...

Anyway, that wasn't the big problem. I guess I just liked the vampire story better, because thinking about it, both books had the same amount of action, love scenes, etc...

I guess what I'm trying to say is: this book has excellent writing and an awesome plot with lovable characters so it's certainly worth your time!

Oh yeah, can I just point out that the cover is fucking hot? No? Too bad, because I just did.

I'm really on the fence about this authors books. They fill a paranormal need for books but never really come across as unique. This book just doesn't suck me in, but it has been my best book from her so far.

Chloe comes back from the dead after being killed by her father. Protecting her is Connors job, and he is a multi paranormal beast. Vampire and shifter mix, with no allergy to silver. Chloe's father enhanced her with a pheromone scent which makes any werewolf want her. Intriguing mix, but I hadn't read the other books so I was a bit lost.

Maybe this book would have been better if I had read the series in order, I still enjoyed it though. Overall entertainment is three stars.

Who judged a book by it’s awesome cover?

This girl.

I think Charming The Beast was my first Cynthia Eden book and it definitely will not be my last.

Connor and Chloe.

I loved them both. I wasn’t sure in the beginning if Connor was a good guy or the bad guy because of how they met, but I chalk him up as on the good side. He would probably tell you he was bad, very bad. The man had no faith in his ability to be one of the good guys.

Then there is Chloe. I liked her right off the bat. She’s feisty. She’s a prisoner of the Para Unit, more so they can figure out what has happened to her than for something she did.

There is huge chemistry between these two and they are incredibly hot together. I really liked all the other characters involved, which means I should probably read the first two books in the series. (This can totally be read as a stand alone. I wasn’t lost at all. I just want to read the back stories.) It turns out I have The Wolf Within, I need to make time to read it, to get to know Connor’s brother, Duncan, better. His story seems like it would be just as interesting as Connor’s. I added Marked By The Vampire to my kindle wish list. That is now a must read too.

All in all this was a great paranormal read with a hot male lead and a great female heroine which left me wanting more of Cynthia Eden’s work. I really liked it!

Thank you to NetGalley for my copy of Charming The Beast! It was a wonderful book!

4 stars from me!

Charming the Beast is the third book in the Purgatory series. While I was able to read and enjoy this book as a standalone, I was able to tell that there were background details from the prior two books that might have made it more enjoyable to read. So my recommendation is to read them in order.

There are two things that I really loved about this story, the suspense and the downright steamy moments between Connor and Chloe. The writing of this story is fast paced and the story holds a bit of suspense. The dialogue seem to flow quite naturally and the characters are entertaining and enjoyable. The one thing that disappointed me was the "love" portion of the story; it felt as though they feel in love outside of the story or was never fully explained. One moment Chloe and Connor are physically attracted to one another, the next moment they are head over heals for each other, and there's not even a "werewolf bond" to blame the feelings on.

Chloe is a werewolf, but she's unlike all of the other werewolves. Chloe has a sent that draws all other werewolves to her, whether she want them to or not. While Chloe's scent doesn't send Connor into a frenzy like it does the other males, there is just something that draws him to her. The problem is that Chloe is under Connor's protection, whether she wants it or not. And when Chloe and Connor are forced into an intimate embrace, sparks start to fly.

I'm in love with this series.
Although this was my least favorite of the 3 books so far it is still a solid 4 stars.
Connor was amazing.
Chloe is stupid rather often and that is where my point is gone...
I can't wait for Eric's book. He has so many secrets. Every now and than there are flashes of the guy he truly is. Looking forward to it.

Little irked that we're given all these teasers of WHAT she is with no real conclusion. :(
