This was almost as gripping and exciting as the first one! I honestly really liked the dynamics and intrigue the two new main characters brought into this sequel. Eli was a character I already found really interesting in the first book and wanted to know more about, and this book gave us that! I find myself really conflicted still about both Victor and Eli, which is what makes them such interesting main characters/heroes/villains in my opinion!

That all said, I sadly feel like the story lost its sense of direction and structure more and more as time went on. It tried to do the same timeline tactic as the first book, and while it worked in some parts, it made the flow of the book a bit disjointed in others.

Very slow in the middle, didn’t care for many of the characters. The ending was good if a little deus ex machina.

Incredible. Although nothing can compare to the way the first book in this series transported me, the second was still incredibly engaging. The new characters were interesting and complex, we got more perspective and history on the original characters and the storyline truly made me speed read this one.
A little disappointed with the ending, I feel like there was a setup for a new villain and a new book and it kind of fell flat. But alas, not all endings are happy ones.
4 stars because the time jumps AND the multiple perspectives made it kind of a dizzying read, but in the end it's still top notch.

4.25 stars. Like with all things written by V.E. Schwab this book was very well written. Though I was a bit disappointed. Vicious is one of my all time favourite books and this follow up was a bit of a let down.

 Wow! What an ending. If I am being fully honest, I preferred the first book. The sequel confused me in the beginning a little - more POV's, more seemingly random Storylines and characters - of course all came together in the end and kinda blew my mind. I deducted one star because some parts felt a little long (the pacing felt sometimes a little off) and I didn't fly through the pages as I did in book one. It felt a little bumpy.
