not as good as book 1 but only bc the focus wasnt really on victor and eli. we still have the tense moments, and everyone is playing a game of cat and mouse.
not sure how i feel about a book 3 tho...

This was a great wrap-up of the duology and gave more details and background into the magic system and its possibilities. It was a masterpiece.

I didn't enjoy the format of the story for this one. It was too much. Too many characters to keep track of. I didn't care for the ending felt unfinished.

This was better than I expected but still a letdown. I went into it thinking Eli and Victor took a backseat in this book but that is not true.
I am conflicted with giving this a 3.75 or 4.0 because I felt deeply let down by the ending. I thought the buildup to the gala was great and even the reunion was good. However, I really wanted more out of the reunion between Victor and Eli.
I also wanted better resolution for Sydney and June. It seems like it’s set up for book #3 but it doesn’t exist.

Loved it! I really love how the author weaves the characters together, tying up all of the loose ends by the end of the book - with a little room for something else to come. She also does a great job time jumping - it took some getting used to, but by this book I was pretty familiar with her style and it worked really well to create a fast paced and tense book. Great characters!!
