Sexy! I do love the orgy scenes. Wow. This book had like 50% more sex than the first one. And boy, was it hot!

I also enjoyed the fall of Lola’s walls as one by one she let herself into the pack and into each guy’s bond. She really came so far from the scared little beta who was always beating herself up mentally at the beginning of book one. I like a book where the characters can be sexually and emotionally fulfilled.

Ending was pure cheese, but I do love the Leo/Lola dynamic and I’m so proud of her for being able to come to terms with her life as a beta and her importance to the pack.

Moon shines brightest when she is doing character studies and exploring relationships. I wish she would just let her books stand on the quiet emotion of them rather than trying to bloat the plot with high action. Each of the men (minus Cyrus) had their own interesting flaws and soft spots that I would have rather seen explored than adding in an undertone of danger. There was a natural ending to the story when Lola got back from visiting Baby. We didn’t need another 150 pages.

Honestly, we didn’t need Cyrus, the seeming reason that it didn’t end at that point. He felt like a convenient NPC to pull out as a background distraction for whatever character couldn’t have Lola’s attention at the time. Their relationship felt forced in a way none of the others did. He felt woefully underbaked and often slowed the flow. He straight up ruined the beautifully sweet scene
where Caleb bonded with Lola
by pulling her attention immediately back to him in a complete tonal shift that cheapened the depth of the previous scene.

I will also note that while sex is talked about *a lot* in these books, it’s generally not done on page. There is maybe one on-page scene every 75 pages and only one of them in this book is more than Lola and a single partner. I think that is also shown in the way relationships play out in these books too. Lola spends more time talking one on one with her guys than hanging out in groups which also ruins some of the natural flow because then it feels like we haven’t seen a character for a while as she rotates through each of the dudes.

Do I think this book was fun? Yes. Moon knows how to make playful books about rascally men. But I definitely think there are other why choose romances that made for better books, including some of Moon’s own work.

The ending was perfect! Only thing I didn’t like is that Caleb and Cyrus’s names are too similar for me. I was getting confused between the 2.

tropes: why choose, romance, omegaverse, y familia encontrada.

Kskdndidnnd me desmayo.
