I really enjoyed this one. How it talks about man vs nature is very exciting. It was quite gory. I would say this is a dystopian horror book. It is not for those that want something lighthearted. It goes dark. However, if you want something reflective, this is amazing. It manages to be both analytical and informative while also keeping a good pace and being very thrilling. Some people dislike gore, and if you are one of those people, don't read this one. But I like gory books, and this was a hoot and a half.

Mostly had a blast with this one! Hit a snag when my library checkout expired and I couldn't get it back for a couple weeks, but really enjoyed this.

Crichton writes so accessibly, even when detailing scientific and mathematic concepts readers may be unfamiliar with. Jurassic Park has some banger quotes, mostly from Ian Malcolm, who rocks. Second Crichton I've read, the other being Prey when I was around 11. I might pick up a few more of Crichton's works in the near future. Dude just delivers a specific brand of sci-fi thriller that doesn't absolutely terrify me but still keeps my interest until the end.

Jurassic Park had tons of overlap with the movie adaptation, which I also love, so it was easy to keep track of details. I think that the changes the film did make to the novel's structure, plot, and characters were very effective and definitely deliver an exquisite cinematic experience. That's not to say that the movie is better--I do think I personally prefer the movie to the book, but there was a ton in the book I really enjoyed. As stated earlier, there are pages upon pages of banger quotes and descriptions. The book really has some breathtaking writing in it. Furthermore, it's so exciting to read a novel where the author knows how to write clever characters. There were plenty of moments in the book where you could solve whatever problem the characters encountered if you paid enough attention. Some others, which I didn't catch, still managed to feel exciting because the information had been established logically and following a character's thinking via Crichton's excellent third-person narration was wonderful.

Overall, I think Jurassic Park is great. Easy enough to make reading it a breeze, despite having a higher page count than a lot of popular novels; challenging enough to maintain mystery and intrigue, leading the reader to critically think about the issues at play rather than knowing everything upfront.

I absolutely adored experiencing Jurassic Park through a new lens and I can't wait to revisit the movie, already one of my favorites of all time.

This book really surprised me. Loved the movie growing up, but I found the book to be quite enjoyable. Really liked the way the author set up the scenario and sort of wish I didn’t already know what it was leading to so I could have experienced it fully. I liked most of the characters and the ones I didn’t weren’t so insufferable that I couldn’t read them. It felt like a lot more happened in the book than the movie and the ending was quite different. I also think Crichton did a good job of keeping the science digestible and plausible for the everyday reader. Would recommend for a quick entertaining read.
