I started this book ages ago when it first released and got about 15 pages in before I put it down, I thought I was bored, I was just not in the right mindset to truly enjoy this, so I’m glad I took a break and then came back. The first Rose Hill book was ok to me, not my fave, it just didn’t compare to the Chestnut Springs books (especially Hopeless, that book is pure swoon) which I think led me to think that this book, the second Rose Hill book would also fall flat, it didn’t.

I loved the single dad vibes. Emmy and Ollie were the true stars of the show, and I LOVED reading the interactions between Skylar and them. Skylar was also very well written, just enough trauma to give a good back story but also so much growth. Together West and Skylar had a beautiful love story.

Finally, I love how Elsie includes such rich and fun side characters that make the story seem so much more full and fun. Doris, Clyde, Rosie, Tabby, the whole crew makes the story so much more alive! I’m now pretty excited to read book 3 which just dropped recently :)

First Elsie Silver book that I’ve rated 5 stars. This has definitely been my favorite book by this author.

Overall I enjoy her books, but I’m not obsessed with them like a lot of other people; however, they are still entertaining small town romances.

There was something about Skylar and West that just had my heart from the beginning. I enjoyed their love story developing and I found myself laughing a lot during this book.

If I was feeling petty I would have rated it 4.8/5 because the nickname West gives Skylar is truly horrible. I cringed every time I heard it.
