This was a great YA fantasy. Classic fantasy tropes: love triangle, reluctant hero, secrets, those in power rewriting history, tournament- but they still worked. I’m looking forward to seeing where the series goes!

Red Queen meets Shadow and Bone? YES, and then some. This book delivered so much. A fierce heroine with stormy secrets, deadly court politics, forbidden love, and a competition where crowns are won. I was hooked from the opening line and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.
Blaze is the kind of character you cheer for. Her struggle with identity, power, and belonging felt raw and real, even in a world of elemental magic and royal intrigue. And the twin dynamic? Incredible. Bonus points for two love interests that actually made the love triangle feel worth the emotional chaos.
Also this cover?? The gold detailing, the way it shimmers in the light, the purple sprayed edges that are literal eye candy. I am obsessed!!!
