Heir of Storms has just rocketed to the top of my favorite books of 2025 list! I loved every second of this story and the emotional roller coaster it took me on.
It has games and trials, an antihero, forbidden love, and epic twists.
The audiobook for this was also wonderful. I really enjoyed the narrator, Isis Hainsworth, who is lovely to listen to. It's time to buy my book trophy.
Thank you to Macmillan Audio, Macmillan Publishing, and NetGalley for the ALC/ARC.

Heir of Storms is a fast-paced and action-packed adventure. When Blaze was born, disaster struck her people. Years later, she is forced to compete in a competition to prove that she has her magic under control and that she is a contender for a crown. But keeping magic locked away and using it with intention are very different and Blaze must rely on a wide cast of characters to help her master her magic once and for all.
I enjoyed Heir of Storms! There is good magical world-building and once that was established, the story flowed smoothly. I enjoyed the side characters and look forward to seeing how the romance plays out. Readers who seek magical competitions, elemental magic, and YA romantasy should check out Heir of Storms. I’m excited to see what happens next in the sequel!
Thank you to Lauryn Hamilton Murray, Roaring Brook Press, and NetGalley for a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Brilliantly written and what am i supposed to do without book 2 out?
This is how i feel after i finished reading Heir of Storms
Since the moment i started this book until the end i was HOOKED. My attention span hates to see prologues coming but this one???? That’s the moment i knew im going to end up loving this book.
The elemental magic woven into trials and the whole story of how one golden kingdom was made?? Absolutely brilliant
I loved Blaze’s character and how we can see her discover herself and her power, grow as a person and accepting herself.
I loved seeing the undertones of found family and how funny some of the side characters were, i love when we see more of the side characters, they were very much a big part of the story.
And for a character that is still a mystery and totally fascinated me?? Yeah you guessed right, i adore Fox, I NEED TO SEE MORE OF HIM AND I NEED HIM TO BE ENDGAME. The chemistry, the unknown elements of his story, i’ll be his defender for life. I NEED TO SEE MORE OF HIM IN BOOK 2
Regarding Hal?? I love his storyline, the whole thing made me more excited to read about him and how this will play out.

This is the fantasy novel I was looking for. It was a trip that I didn’t want to return from. I was here to be entrained and it did not disappoint me.
“I have many names. Or rather, I am known by many. I don’t think of them as mine.”
Every quarter of a century a deadly competition for the most gifted young Etheri battle for the four thrones - a Choosing Rite.
This fast-paced, elemental-powered world was engaging, and enjoyable. The story had my feet kicking, my jaw hanging and my mind buzzing with its foreshadowing, plot twists, and slow-burn love stories. The ending - well, you need to read it for yourself to see.
“Watching history unfold feels very different from reading about it.”

Heir of Storms really kept me locked in. However, there were a few plot holes, and the end really came out of nowhere. The plot was intriguing, though, even if it was a little predictable.
