This first collection of Our Super Adventure doesn't shine as much as later work. Several of the jokes definitely made me chuckle, but not nearly as many landed as well as more recent comics. It was a lot of fun seeing all the ways that their style has evolved, though!

The solicit for this book compared it to [a:Kate Beaton|2921970|Kate Beaton|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1318610112p2/2921970.jpg] and [a:Sarah Andersen|14144506|Sarah Andersen|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1450904865p2/14144506.jpg]. While it may svisually reflect those two, it's lacking Beaton's wit and literary references, and Andersen's insightfulness. This is a diary comic with the same flat jokes over and over. It felt like an anti-[b:American Elf: The Collected Sketchbook Diaries, Vol. 1|165847|American Elf The Collected Sketchbook Diaries, Vol. 1|James Kochalka|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1342740027s/165847.jpg|160137].

If you like diary comics (and I do like a few), this may be right up your alley, but I found it to twee and scatological.

I have always loved Sarah Graley’s are style. It is super cute and cozy feeling. Whenever I look at her artwork it’s like drinking a cup of tea or cuddling under a cover on a warm day. Her art style also super enhances the relatability of her work. It just feels friendly.

Which is good for a collection like this. Because in this collection Sarah shares brief glances into her life. Each short comic I found super relatable and it was adorable to see her interaction with her partner Stef and their adorable cats.

In a time when the world feel so negative a comic collection like this is just what I needed. It’s a bright, happy collection that reminds you that maybe things are not as dark as they seem. I highly recommend checking this collection out!

I give this collection 5/5 stars.

That you for Netgalley for making this collection available for review

I follow Sarah on Instagram and when the book was announced I knew I had to read it. Her comics are relatable, funny, and cute but with the dash of weird someone in a long term relationship can totally understand. I've sent so many of these comics to my boyfriend saying, "Look, it's us!"
Thank you for putting all these in one place and providing this for me to review. I look forward to more!

I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review; I am also interviewing the creator for The Beat.

Sarah Graley's diary comics are so fun and super #relatable, so seeing them collected in one volume made for a wildly fun read. I really like Graley's other comics, as well, but my first exposure to her work was through the strips about her cats, her shared love of pizza, and her partner Stef. I was instantly hooked, and that hasn't changed a bit. If you're a fan of comics like Kate Beaton, you'll very likely love this — I highly recommend grabbing a copy!
