Too much Bob Mayer, not enough Jenny Crusie for my tastes. Or perhaps I just don't go for those strong, silent, gun-packing men...

Lucy Armstrong is a director who makes dog food commercials--by choice, not lack of talent. Her ex-husband has asked her to come in and finish directing an action flick that he's coordinated the stunts for. The real director has just died with only four days of shooting left to go. She reluctantly agrees. Things get interesting when she shows up on the set and finds out that her star has hired a stunt double. But not just any stunt double. Meet Captain J. T. Wilder of the Green Berets. Wilder is smokin' hot and attracted to Lucy. Despite obvious distractions, the pair are still aware that something weird is happening on this movie set. They set out to find out what it is, and to find out more about each other.

Okay, more like 2.5 stars. It was a quick, mindless read featuring gorgeous people. But this was an odd hybrid of chick lit and military novel that didn't exactly work for me. I don't really read military books, so why do I want my chick lit served up with military stuff? There was too much of the men focusing in on the women's chests and legs, and I never really understood what was going on, even at the end. Maybe I read through too fast, but it felt like a lot of loose ends were left. Lucy's niece, Pepper, was cute, and I liked that Lucy was a strong character. Other than that, this book was pretty forgettable.

Liked it, but didn't love it. It definitely feels like two people taking turns writing a book instead of collaborating on one story. I liked the characters, but the situations and writing styles were too different for me to really fall in love with the story.

I have to agree with the other reviews of this book. It was a fine book but there was definetly something lacking. The development of the relationships was a bit stilted and the unraveling of the illegal activities plot seemed a bit confused.

I am looking forward to reading there next book together to see if these two authors learn a better harmony. I think they have the potential to be VERY good.

A very fun, fast read. I had a hard time putting it down when I needed to. It's funny and sexy, and the mystery had me guessing. If you like Jennifer Crusie's books in general, you won't be disappointed.

Jennifer Crusie, please stop co-authoring books with Bob. They are really awful and boring. Your fans are waiting for you to come to your senses.

This was a collaboration between two authors i've never read before. I guess the guy author writes more adventurey books and the woman author writes more chick lit books, and they each write in the book from their POV when they're writing the two main characters (a film director woman and a soldier guy). It was pretty cliched and sorta boring. The book dragged on, and there was too much about the five year old girl, who talked weirdly. Basically, the woman is brought in to finish directing a weird movie that has something wrong with it, but she doesnt know what. the stunt director is her ex husband, another worker is her messed up sister, who basically does nothing the whole book, her 5 yr old niece is running rampant over the set, and her best friend is her assistant who barely figures into the book. And its not a spoiler to say that the military expert they bring in to consult the main actor of the movie is the main love interest. he's also the "hero" of the story. It so dragged till the very end, when we finally get some action - some blowing things up, going after the bad guys, etc. i just finished it on principle, because i havent finished the last few.

It was okay, not spectacular or anything. The plot itself was very confusing because it was like a criminal operation fronted by a movie and it didn't make a lot of sense most of the time.... I liked the characters who were in it, I just thought it needed some more work. Plus there were too many gaps at the end...(less)
