I did not expect to love this as much as I did as sci-fi and aliens aren’t my reading usuals, but this was so much fun, sweet, hysterical at times, and just swoon worthy. Is it the absolute best story I’ve ever read? No. But it made me happy and smile.

The content warnings were not sufficient for the first part of this book. Everyone has their own kinks but this is not how I want my smut to start.

CW for the first 40 pages: drugged, rape, abduction, excrement, violence, murder, blood, injury, trafficking, death, confinement

I absolutely loved everything about this book! I have never in my life. Read a book that was this short, but had this level of world building and character development. Plus, I haven't laughed that hard in such a long time.

Aliens
Fancy 🍆
Mates
Language barrier

Big blue dude essentially says “Hi, you’re my mate!” by putting his mouth on the FMC's 😼. I don’t have an issue with his greeting. I have an issue with the fact that she’s not really conscious and consenting. She could have been…boo.

40%…it’s not been a day. This book is moving fast.

Over all; this isn’t the worst thing I’ve ever read, I may even give the second book a go. But I can’t help but feel that the popularity of this book is mainly driven by people new to spicy books. I can’t help but feel like the novelty of spice and alien peen is the primary reason people are enamoured by this book.

I reluctantly tried this because it was on audible plus and I knew it was popular on BookTok. Why not? I feel like I went down the Sci-Fi version of Alice’s rabbit hole. I’m my mad about it either 😏🤪

Although IPB starts of dark, this doesn't detract from how how much I love Georgie (and eventually Vektal.)

Ruby Dixon does an amazing job of writing believable and relatable heroines thrown into difficult situations. Georgie is someone strong, almost in a subtle way, who strives to make things better instead of complaining about her lot in life. She's funny, persuasive, and stands up for the little guy. Although she doesn't naturally assume a role of leadership, she does what she has to so that she can keep the people around her safe.

Needless to say, the plot and world-building of IPB draws you in and keeps you hooked. Although Vektal is not my favourite at the start, and the writing indicates that it's through a misunderstanding of cultures, I definitely warm to him by the end.

However, I will add that a lot of these could do with a second round of editing as there are typos, changes from first to third POV mid sentence, and the kindle display between page breaks is literally a blank page.
