I’ve known about this series for ages- it’s practically a legend on Romancestagram and I totally get why people love it. This is my intro to this author’s work and to the Ice Planet Barbarians series and overall, I liked it. In this intro to the series, Georgie is kidnapped from her home in Florida bad some evil alien traffickers along with a dozen other women. On the way, their alien ship runs into difficulty and the women are discarded on an ice planet injured and unprepared to fend for themselves. But Georgie is not willing to give up and while seeking help, runs into Ice Planer Barbarian, Velktal.

I liked the trajectory of Georgie and Vektal’s story. Quite alright there is some dubious consent when they first meet and kind of throughout their relationship but I suppose it is as non-malicious as dub-con can be and stems more from a cultural  misunderstandings than any intent to harm or overpower. It must be noted that this is quite violent and early on, there’s an on-page sexual assault, so be mindful of that if you’re considering this. 

I think this is a good set up for the series. It’s an on-stressful read and I thought it was fine.

I enjoyed the book itself. Fun, albeit pretty tame, alien smut. However, I throughly hated the bonus short story and novella.

 What can I say ? I read it for the meme...and ended up pleasantly surprised ! This ended up being way more of a survival story than I expected. There's even some horror elements that caught me off guard and made me squirm.

As a content warning: Yes, there is a brief rape scene in the beginning. There's actually an author's note before the story with content warnings, and her explanation for the darker tone in this one. Essentially this whole book is about a group of abducted women who end up on the brink of death trying to survive on a planet covered in snow.

With saying that...the spicy scenes don't feel misplaced or awkward. There's actually a lovely buildup of sexual tension between the two MCs. The woman, Georgie, is constantly putting the other women before herself, and getting physical isn't the main priority.

The writing does leave a lot to be desired, and the style reminds me of when I read fanfic as a teenager. However, there is actually a plot ! The banter between the women is also quite funny, and I found myself laughing out loud several times.

If you're looking for some smut that's more than just the MCs getting into each other's pants, then I'd recommend giving this one a try. You might find yourself as surprised as I was, and I'm really tempted to pick up book two !

Listen, is this great literature? No. But I had a great time reading it. It was honestly just a fun time and I really liked the characters. Especially Georgie I liked how she really looked out for the other Girls. Also this isn’t that smutty so there’s that like there’s a few scenes but it wasn’t like anything crazy to me personally. but it also involves an alien so I guess that makes it a little smuttier.

There were a couple of plot holes, but over all it wasn't that bad. I did not love how it started, definitely read the trigger warnings! But I've heard that the next ones are better so I will likely try one or two more of them.

Well hot damn. I finally gave in to the hype and wooooooooooie! This book was sexy, fun, surprisingly…. Dare I say realistic? I dunno I really enjoyed it and I’m about to start book 2 right away.
