A beautifully horrific novel about two girls growing up together and one that simply will not give up on the other. It is a slow burn, however necessary, to truly understand the growth of friendship these two girls had. While it did feel a bit average at times, I truly felt that the years we read through indeed helped the reader understand why it was so important that she not leave her friend to the dogs. (Or a demon in this instance, lol.) I found myself smiling, I felt shocked, I had my heart warm. I found myself thinking of my own childhood best friend and wondering how she was.
It's worth a read! A hidden gem that will leave you feeling reminiscent and a little nostalgic for your own childhood.
