unpopular opinion apparently but i liked this book! it was like if a season of Riverdale combined with the desperate housewives and also a sleazy murder mystery book for a speedy 300 page book full of sex, drugs, and filthy rich people. i feel like you have to go into it knowing it’s going to be campy and out of touch. i like the creative writing and different spacing. the characters were predictable but also that was fine, because it was a book where you kinda knew what was gonna happen but were just there for the drama and small details.

If you are looking at this book at the book store - put it down. Reads like it was written with AI by a man. I picked it up because I read in a review that is felt like the modern version of The Great Gatsby. I suffered through this book so you wouldn't have to do so. The only similarities is that it takes place in a city of all rich people who have a party. The commonalities stop there. It was such a vapid, frat boy take that I don't want to even admit I didn't DNF it.

I ordered this from BOTM club as I try and read things with good recommendations. I was floored after reading this that this book was chosen and I was so disappointed in this book and the recent decline in good recommendations from them that I cancelled. This was the last straw.

This book is boring, lacking of substance, and I am guessing the lowest rating I will have this year.

Unfortunately, this just wasn't for me. The first chapter didn't hook me and I hated the fact that the dialogue wasn't in quotations. It was confusing and I felt the beginning was longer than necessary. Had to DNF.

**Thank you to NetGalley for the e-ARC of this copy of Next to Heaven. Even though it wasn't for me, i'm grateful to have gotten a copy anyways!
