The main character is incredibly gullible and trusts anyone who validates her to be around her son. She doubts and gaslights herself throughout the book and completely misses very big hints that things aren’t right. The ending was odd and Josh’s epilogue was the only part that surprised me.

Every time I think I’ve figured out the twist, Frieda McFadden pulls the rug out from under me. Flawless.

**** SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW****

I enjoyed this book! Easy to read, kept me on my toes and what I thought was an easily predictable book was far from it. Freida definitely knows how to write a thriller. This was the first book of hers I’ve read and I definitely will be reading more!!!

**spoliers below**

At first I was thinking it was Tim and most of the way through the book up until Shane got out of prison I thought it was Tim. Marcus Hunt was 1000% right - Shane was a master manipulator and to then have Shanes mom be a part of it as well? WILD. Never expected that especially with Shane’s mom playing a roll and being Margie, the nanny, tricking Brooke the ENTIRE time. Then the whole story about how Brookes dad was supposed to leave Brooke’s family for Shane and his mom and that’s what drove them to try to kill Brooke and plan the whole ordeal at the farm house?!? Mind blown 🤯

Also, THE END?!? Apple doesn’t fall to far from the psychopath tree 😅 Josh don’t end up like your dadddd 😭
