Liked:
  • That ending was amazing of course there was a few plot holes but overall I really loved that ending excellently with that final twist in the epilogue 🥰 it was a 5 out of 5 star ending
  • I like how the book switches back and forth between the present and the incident 11 years ago.
  • I like how even though Josh is 10 years old he is not as naĂŻve as this mom.
  • The book does a good job at making you sympathetic towards the killers in the beginning.

Disliked
  • The book was in 1st person P.O.V (This is a personal thing, honestly I think I’m just not used to reading books in first person 🤷‍♀️)
  • Brooke was just annoying at time
Quote: “these men don’t look like criminals”  she saids as she’s working at a prison 🤦🏻‍♀️
  • Josh at times doesn’t Talk like a 10 year old which I can let it go because I know how hard it is to write dialogue for kids at times.

Overall:

I think is I would have physically read this book instead of listen to the audiobook I would have enjoyed it more.
This is a good introduction to the mystery genre if your not used to reading mystery books. Honestly the ending is that best part of the book. I love how the epilogue is in a different P.O.V and answers one of my biggest question about a certain person’s death.

There should be a prize for every single character being unlikable- it’s almost impressive if not a bit annoying.

FMC is infuriating, often saying the right thing to do and blatantly disregarding it and doing the stupid alternative. In addition to her ability to be gaslit by everyone, including herself, she lacks
the ability to recognize people she once knew. It doesn’t seem feasible that she forgot this many people. The whole trial seems like a sham with her watery testimony she doesn’t even believe to be true, getting a guy a life sentence then saying oh gosh I think I was wrong, sprinting that guy from prison and incarcerating another without repercussions. I don’t think so.

Always go into a Freida book accepting the boundaries of feasibility, but this time the Queen of Redundancy (and boy did she like to repeat herself in this book) asked the reader to stretch too far. It’s not feasible, but rather a farce.
