4.5 Stars - What I love most about this series is it isn’t your typical shifter book. There are no fated mates falling madly in love; there is no strong, alpha males dominating a weak, submissive, but cheeky, omegas; there are no homophobic jerks out to destroy everyone – well, maybe there was one… but overall, what you get is a good strong romance between two people with a paranormal/fantasy twist (the jury is still out as to whether werewolves are paranormal or fantasy, but that’s a topic for another day).

Bone Dry is as good as the previous two, but follows Chris and Dylan’s friend Ery. It took me a little bit to get into the story, I’m not sure what it was, but Ery, like his muse to him, didn’t speak to me. However, as the story progressed, so too did my enjoyment.

I loved Karl’s childlike wonder and felt bad for his isolation. I got a clear picture of him though – he was not human and saw the world differently. Ery, as I said, took a little bit to get used to. He had quite a case of the “poor me”s. As his art flourished, though, his spirit grew and you could see the true person underneath.

If you liked the first two books, you won’t be disappointed in this, and if you haven’t read the first two, you could read this one, but you’d be missing out on some details.

I really like this book. I enjoy supernatural romances where the characters have to figure out how they can live together when they have very different lifestyle needs (Karl needing to live in water as he'll dry up and die without it, and Ery not even knowing how to swim). It's also fun having Karl be a Strömkarlen instead of a straight up merman.

Both characters are likeable and Ery's art is fun too. This book also features characters from Kim Fielding's Speechless series, which I would like to do a reread of as well sometime soon.

What a lovely book to read and finish on this day! ♡
Karl was lovely, he was my favorite! I was really thinking it was going to be a bittersweet ending. I'm glad Ery proved me wrong! :)
I was so happy to read about Dylan and Chris again. I was doubly happy to also see Travis and Drew!
I definitely won't mind reading more on this universe! Maybe about Sasquatch or the Unicorn? ;)

First off this book made me cry because even though I knew the moment would come for that particular scene I still wasn't quite ready for it. And while I was damn sure I'd get my happy ending I couldn’t see how the guys would get a HEA.
They do.

Loved that we got to see quite a bit more of Chris and Dylan than I expected. A great end to the series.

I still find the careless promiscuity of most of the characters a bit uncomfortable, but I enjoyed the reappearance of Ery and his wrestling with ideas of responsibility and maturity. Karl didn't seem quite real, but the negotiation of their relationship did.

I enjoyed reading this a lot. Ery, a side character from the first two Bones novels, has his own paranormal romance, with a water spirit. Dylan and Chris are important in this book also, a bit more than I expected, actually. But I really like them, so I didn't mind.

Ery spends most of the book confused about what he really wants, but his journey to a happy ending feels realistic. However, his love interest, Karl, is immediately loyal, and somehow it seems a little sad to me, maybe because Karl does not have much depth (ha). But seriously, he comes across as very innocent and pure - not virginal, but lacking in knowledge about the world. I would've preferred it if we had seen his point-of-view.

But overall, I like this story. This one links to others by Kim Fielding, including Speechless, which I have not read yet. I think it's clever how she subtly sets her stories in the same universe. I'm having a great time reading her books!
