For the Children's Sake: Foundations of Education for Home and School by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay

This book is one in which I feel must be read more than once as it's full of so many thoughts and ideas to chew on, ponder, think about. While there were several times in which I felt like I'm not doing enough, the information provided far out weighed those feelings (besides, feelings do lie after all). Even if one doesn't home educate, the author provides practical ways to incorporate Charlotte Mason's ideas into everyday life. Also, even if one doesn't fully align with Mason's line of thinking/thoughts on education, I do believe this book has valuable insights and thoughts about how to actually treat a child, for they too are persons. A good book that I'll be referring back to lots.

A wonderful book not only about education, but how to parent as well. I love the Charlotte Mason educational philosophy (which is what this book is about) and plan to follow it in homeschooling my boys. This book does a great job of bringing Mason's words to life and helping them to be understood and applied.
Second reading - still found many gems and felt invigorated and ready to adjust my aim and priorities. A Charlotte Mason education is a beautiful thing.

I LOVE this book! Although this is commonly referred to as a homeschooling type book, it's more of a parenting book. Maccaulay discusses at length Charlotte Mason's view of childhood and childrearing. She also discusses Biblical principles in the scope of parenting. It's very well written too. I truly believe everyone should read this book. I listened to it on audiobook narrated by Mary Woods. She was delightful to listen to.

Many helpful principles conveyed in an often frustrating tone.
