In “Mieruko-chan” we follow the everyday life of Miko as she’s haunted by grotesque creatures that appear everywhere she goes. At a loss for what to do, Miko simply tries to ignore them and distract herself by doing simple things like looking at her phone or checking the time. Unable however to find refuge anywhere, she seeks comfort with her best friend Hana, whose smile Miko uses to distract her thoughts and attention for a while. It’s an absolutely fantastic manga if you're a horror fan, and it’s not your usual type of scary in the classic sense of horror, which I love. You know, jump scares, squeaky wooden floorboards etc. - but it instead brings a unique element to the table, and it exceeds at lightening up the mood every now and then by bringing in comedic jokes and phrases, such as "There's more to life than just donuts.". It's truly amazing, there's simply nothing more that can be said. Give it a go!
