An assassination market on the dark web where people bid on the murders of the influential and the rich.
Siblings Karen and Yemi who founded an elite executive protection team, determined to stop the murders.
An eighteen-year-old mastermind and his gang who are on a mission to take down the rich, and win the bids placed.
Bazaar has an amazing and thoroughly interesting plot that'll have you wanting to know more. The detailing and world-building is excellent, and honestly, it's hard to believe that this is Miles Joyner’s debut book.
While reading, I could see the scenes playing out right in front of me, and it feels like this is the kind of book that'd turn out to be an excellent movie adaptation. The suspense, the action, and the conversations between the characters makes it all so very vivid and exciting.
The sibling bonding between Karen and Yemi? Don't get me started on that one *slaps a wad of cash onto the table* As someone who always keeps an eye open for anything and everything sibling-related (I'm an only child 🫠), I give this book a 10/10. Hands down one of the best sibling relationships I've seen in books.
The book has a very different style of writing from what I'm accustomed to, but it was a great read. If you love thrillers, technology, and some good old suspense, I highly recommend this book to you.

It's a masterpiece thriller which has world Where yemi and Karen Going against a young inventive contract killer Aaron. Each character was well written and every plot was so thrilling and Interesting. Rather than making the villain too vicious and merciful, the author showed the back ground story which made me feel so bad for Aaron for his painful past.
And the way the author made a new
completely different world with so much technology is impressive and admirable. Every scene portraying the technology, the weapons made the story even more beautiful. Not only the story focuses on story but also in many themes which we needed to know.
For the readers who loves science , technology and security, this the best book to read. You will love the plot and also learn a lot of things and ethics.
But I also can't able to understand the scenes or who are saying what in some scenes which made it hard to understand and made me confused. I had to re read to able to understand those scenes. So I just believe it require some development and made it easy to read and understand.
Except that ,I enjoyed the book and it’s worth a try.

Bazaar is a gripping techno-thriller that masterfully blends dark web chaos, assassin vs. protector dynamics, and high-stakes action. Set in Washington D.C., the story follows a murder connected to an assassination market on the dark web and the sibling bodyguards tasked with protecting a high-profile target.
The story kicks off with a shocking murder in DC's nightlife scene - the son of a former ambassador. What seems like a random crime quickly spirals into a deadly game connected to an assassination market on the dark web.
With complex characters, pulse-pounding pacing, and thought-provoking themes, this book is a must-read for fans of gritty, intelligent thrillers. The writing style is cinematic, and the narrative explores timely issues like technology, crime, and moral ambiguity.
The characters are layered and real, with Yemi and Karen Uzunma's sibling bond and fierce loyalty making them compelling protagonists.
As one character notes, "I know at this point, I'm dying, having life a contradiction but if hell is destiny, then I will only take as many dark Souls with me can."
This book delivers a thrilling blend of political intrigue, modern warfare, and high-stakes danger. If you enjoy action-packed thrillers with smart plots, complex characters, and high-stakes action, then Bazaar is a great choice.

Would you believe I was paranoid walking down my own hallway after reading this?? Because same.
The way the story builds layer after layer, showing how one click on the dark web can ripple into full-blown warfare…chef’s kiss 🖤💻💥
Chiedu Attah hiring protection should’ve made him safe, but honeyyyy this killer?? Built different.
And my FAVORITE characters??
Yemi – stoic, sharp, all calm intensity and
leadership vibes 🔥🖤
Karen – strategic, fierce, basically a walking
power move in boots 👢⚔️
Their sibling bond? Obsessed!! Like give me a spin-off right now please!!And I would absolutely trust them with my life, phone passcode, AND location.
Also…low-key? can I say I kinda love a villain with brains and vibes?? Even if they're terrifying???
(while also locking all my doors).
The worldbuilding was slick, smart, and
chillingly real.
Thriller fans who live for heart-racing tension ❤️🔥
Dark web drama lovers 🖤
Those who crave morally grey brilliance and ultra-competent characters 💼🕶️
If you like stories where the stakes are life or death, the pacing is relentless, and the lines between good and evil blur beautifully...this one’s for YOU!

The book is a thrilling, fast-paced action/crime story that keeps you hooked. I loved how the author created complex, grey characters. The tension is always high, and the story is fast-paced. The writing is too good, and with elements like the dark web, 3D-printed guns, and murders, the book constantly keeps you on edge. While there were a few moments where the flow could’ve been smoother, I still really liked the book and its story. It’s dark, gritty, and definitely worth reading!

Bazaar by Miles Joyner is one of those stories that grabs you from the very first chapter and doesn’t let go until you’re breathless and wide-eyed at the end.
Set in the pulse of D.C.'s nightlife and shadowed by the eerie corners of the dark web, this book delivers a thrilling blend of political intrigue, modern warfare, and high-stakes danger—with characters so sharp and layered, you can’t help but root for them (or fear them).
Yemi and Karen Uzunma stole my heart with their powerful sibling bond and fierce loyalty. Watching them go head-to-head with a chillingly clever assassin? Chef's kiss. Every page is loaded with tension, intelligence, and that gritty, adrenaline-fueled energy that makes thrillers unforgettable.
Joyner does a phenomenal job at weaving class conflict, digital age paranoia, and good old-fashioned suspense into something so cinematic and gripping, it reads like a blockbuster in book form.
Whether you're into high-stakes thrillers, sharp dialogue, or just love a fast-paced story that makes you think while keeping you on the edge of your seat—Bazaar is a must-read.

Disclaimer: I received an advanced reader copy of this book directly from the author and this is my own opinion.
Second disclaimer: This one is not strictly speculative fiction but I received the ARC pre The Speculative Review and I'm making good on my promise.
I don't like giving negative reviews, especially when the author has reached out to me directly, but I like to think people would prefer that I review honestly rather than yank their chain. Thrillers, by definition, are supposed to be thrilling. Every page needs to be packed with action or suspense that propels the plot forward, building to a crescendo of tension that blows your socks off.
I didn't feel that in Bazaar by Myles Joyner. What I felt instead was confused. The story centers primarily around a dark web assassins’ market called the Bazaar where people bid on politicians and other notable figures to be killed. There was room in Bazaar to develop a nuanced look at the turbulent politics that we see today, but there's not much of that here.
Joyner seems to know DC well. Bazaar is packed full of references to places that I can only believe must be real, and in many ways this does add to the flavour of the novel. The dialogue is very confusing and I found myself rereading sections to try and figure out who was saying what.
When the action hits, it feels like a movie, which is both a good thing and a bad thing. Action in novels needs to be backed up by internal thoughts and feelings. That’s where a novel excels over other forms of media.
I really wanted to like this one, but unfortunately I didn't. What it needed was more time and development.

Pulse Pounding Thrill Ride With Non-Preachy Commentary. This is one of those books that *is* overtly political... *because it is dealing with political assassinations in and around Washington, DC*, among other topics. So while not all books are political and not all reading is political, this book absolutely is - though the act of reading and reviewing it is *not*.
Joyner's background writing for the screen is evident here with his quick cuts to seemingly random groups of characters, which can be a bit hard to follow at first until you manage to get a grip on who everyone is, but at that point the story really does begin to flow quite readily.
And what a story it is. The action is relentless and seemingly non-stop, and yes, the aforementioned quick cuts actually help in this regard. The inventiveness of the reasonings, techniques, and tactics of both our bad guys and our good guys are truly something to behold - Joyner clearly has a lot of ideas here, and for the most part they tend to land exactly as desired.
There is quite a bit of class-based commentary baked into the flow of this story, though it never really becomes preachy and is even at such a level that trying to determine the author's actual views are... not as clear as some would likely want them. For example, commentary on the dark web seems both technology-forward *and* pro-police. Similarly, commentary on class speaks to the lower classes *no matter* their race, and even points out how even some black characters would never face certain things in certain situations. And commentary about immigrants both shows their plight *and* cautions against the rise of illegal immigration. And yet every bit of this commentary is done well in-world and thus seems true to the characters taking each position as they take them, thus avoiding sounding preachy to the readers.
Overall truly an interesting book with a perspective and topic rarely seen in fiction.
Very much recommended.
